About the Speaker
Dr. Pham Thai Son is Senior Lecturer of Urban Economics in the Sustainable Urban Development program (SUD), Vietnamese-German University (VGU). He earned his Ph.D in Cities and Societies (2010) at National Institute of Applied Sciences of Lyon (INSA Lyon), France. After three years of working in international firms providing consulting services in real estate and engineering industries like Savills and Egis, he joined Vietnamese-German University in 2014. His research interests lie on Urban Planning, Urban Resilience, Livable City, Public Space, Transit-Oriented Development, Real Estate Market, Housing, GIS and Capacity Building. He has been acting as Principal Investigator for a number of reseach projects on Urban Development related topics, including Real Estate Development Plan of HCMC toward 2030, Urban Livability and Quality of Life in Binh Duong province, Density as Urban Management Tool in HCMC. He is also an urban development expert for World Bank, UNDP and UN Habitat in Vietnam, and is an advisor in charge of Urban Form topic for the Spatial Master Plan Adjustment project of Ho Chi Minh City.
